Before
you call Microsoft with your ring of death
problem, call your retailer. Here's
why. It may not be plain sailing
though.

I
have been 69 days without a working
360!
Welcome to the Ring of
Death. I know you probably didn't want
to come here, but let's try and make
the best of things, now that you are.
I created this site as a result
of my continuing poor customer service example
with
Microsoft. I noticed, through trying to
seek advice on the forums, that there were
plenty of others with the same sort of issues.
I was originally quoted 10
-
15 days to fix my 360. That turned into
29
days, then it arrived back broken. Microsoft
insisted
on fixing it again, this time quoting
me
25 days until I get it back. Endless phone
calls and research in web forums gave
me
the
advice to call Microsoft
headquarters and complain
to
their response management team, on:

After several more grueling phone calls and
refusals from Microsoft, a refurb arrived on 24 July
- 54 days after it originally
went wrong. But that one had disk read errors, so
got sent back for an "immediate"
exchange. Day 69 now (Wed
8 Aug 07) and still no xbox 360. Read the full account here.
I hope you get something useful from this
site.
I'm trying to do a few things
here:
To be be a source of information exchange
on the UK xbox repair process, covering the following
issues:
I'd like to produce an up
to date, short f.a.q. page covering all the
essential knowledge for unfortunate new members
to the club.
Also, it would be possible to have more
detailed
discussion
forums
on customer service tips, tricks and techniques
for getting the best out of what could be described
as a pitiful customer service experience. if there's
any demand, the more people that record their experience
on this site, the more exposure each broken repair promise
gets.
The difference between this site and
one
of the many xbox 360 hardware forums is that
this
site aims to catalogue and record your repair
issues,
whereas your posts can get lost in the
forums.
If
enough
of
us
get
together
about
this
appalling
issue in one place, the potential publicity
and
accessibility
of
customer information for independent reporting
might
make
a
difference.
Hopefully, there could even be some positive
and up-lifting stories too... Its not about Microsoft
bashing, its about representing and quantifying
the current customer experience with Microsoft, while
openly appealing for fair treatment and more information
right
now.
You can help...
I can't do this alone and would like your
input if you've had some recent experience, advice,
sob stories or new information, or tech, forum copy and
graphic
skills.
Please get in touch if you'd like me to advertise your
dissatisfaction with the current MS UK repair process.
